Police lay charges over alleged threats to Victorian man

Police have charged a man over alleged threats against a Melbourne lawyer.

Detectives from the Inner West Police Area Command arrested a 50-year-old man at a home in Brighton-Le-Sands at 5.40am today (Friday 22 March 2019).

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with five offences relating to alleged threats to harm a Victorian man.

Those charges comprise three counts of use carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offence; and two counts of use carriage service to threat to cause serious harm.

The man has been granted bail on strict conditions including a directive that he not enter the state of Victoria, that he not contact the alleged victim by any means, either directly or indirectly; and that he surrender his passport to NSW Police.

He is due to appear in Newtown Local Court on Thursday 4 April 2019.
