Police lay charges over fatal fail to stop crash near Sutherland

A teenager has been charged after a man died following a fail to stop crash in Sydney's south overnight.

Just before 11pm (Saturday 14 December 2019), emergency services were called to Prince Edward Park Road, Woronora, after a 41-year-old man was found seriously injured on the side of the road.

Witnesses rendered aid to the man prior to the arrival of emergency services.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended; however, the man could not be revived and died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attended to conduct a forensic examination.

The driver of a Toyota Hilux utility, a 17-year-old male, was arrested after attending Sutherland Police Station just after midnight.

He was taken to hospital and underwent mandatory testing before being charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.

The teen was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Wednesday 5 February 2019.

A number of witnesses have been spoken to; however, anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police, is urged to contact Sutherland Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
