Police lay charges over house fire near Albury

A woman will face court today charged after allegedly setting fire to a house in the state's south.

About 5.30pm on Saturday 27 February 2021, emergency services were called to Kotthoff Street, Lavington, following reports a house was on fire.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the blaze, which was believed to be deliberately lit.

Following inquiries, a 42-year-old woman was arrested at Albury Police Station about 1.15pm yesterday (Monday 1 March 2021). She was charged with damage property by fire.

The woman was refused bail to appear before Albury Local Court today (Tuesday 2 March 2021).
