Police make arrest after armed man threatens woman at Orange

A man was arrested and remains in custody after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife in the state's Central West overnight.

It is alleged the man, aged 21, contacted the victim via phone yesterday (Tuesday 23 July 2019), making a number of threats.

Police will allege the man –armed with a hunting knife – then arrived at the woman's home about 9.40pm, and attempted to force his way inside, kicking, then stabbing, the front door.

The man left the scene shortly before officers attached to Central West Police District arrived.

Following inquiries, police arrested the man at a Bathurst Road home about 10.30am today (Wednesday 24 July 2019).

He has been taken to Orange Police Station for questioning.

Inquiries are continuing.
