Police Make Arrest - Armed Person In Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 42-year-old male in relation to an alleged armed person incident that occurred in Alice Springs earlier today.

Around 8am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report that a male armed with an edged weapon was threatening people in the Alice Springs CBD.

It is alleged at one point the offender chased two people along Parsons Street, forcing them to seek shelter in a café.

With the assistance of CCTV operators, general duties members tracked the offender and arrested him on Stuart Terrace without incident. He remains in police custody.

Police are wishing to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, including the two people who were allegedly chased by the offender. They are urged to contact police on 131 444 or attend the Alice Springs Police Station. Please quote reference P25310261.
