Police make arrest at beachside Dawn Service, South Australia

A man has been arrested at the Anzac Day Dawn Service at Henley Beach this morning.

Just before 7am on Thursday 25 April, police spotted the man walking along Seaview Road carrying a bag with a wooden handle protruding from it. On searching the bag, police found an axe and a knife.

The 41-year-old from Kilkenny was arrested without incident and has been charged with two counts of carry offensive weapon. He has been bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 26 June.

At no time did the man threaten anyone or produce the weapons he had in his possession.
