Police make arrest - Warrants in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have apprehended a 23-year-old male who was wanted for two outstanding warrants in Alice Springs.

Around 11:00am today, officers from Strike Force Viper supported by officers from General Duties and the Dog Operation Unit conducted inquiries throughout the suburb of Gillen to locate and arrest the male in question.

Whilst trying to evade police the man jumped multiple fences in private residences before being apprehended near Bloomfield Street.

He will appear before Alice Springs Local Court later today.

Superintendent Antony Deutrom said, "Officers actively worked together with the assistance of the public to apprehend the man who was not considered to be a risk to the public.

"Members of the public may have seen increased policy activity throughout the suburb of Gillen this morning. Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance and patience whilst this operation was underway."
