The Northern Territory Police Force has responded to two separate disturbances that occurred in Alice Springs earlier today.
At 12:30pm, police received reports of fighting outside a licensed premises along Wills Terrace. It is alleged a group of persons known to each other were engaged in an altercation, with at least two males physically fighting. A blunt weapon and two edged weapons were allegedly produced during the disturbance.
Police responded and arrested and disarmed two males aged 24 and 52. The two edged weapons were seized by police. The rest of the group dispersed upon police arrival and no injuries were reported.
Also around 12:30pm, police received reports that a female had been assaulted in a shopping centre on Hartley Street. It is alleged three female offenders held the victim down while a fourth female offender assaulted her with a blunt weapon.
All offenders fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was conveyed to hospital by St John Ambulance for assessment. The victim and offenders are believed to be known to each other.
Additional police have been deployed to conduct high-visibility patrols and investigations into both incidents remain ongoing.
