Police make arrests over unlawful entry and stolen motor vehicles in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested five individuals in relation to an unlawful entry and stolen vehicles overnight in Alice Springs.

At 4am, police received a report that a business on Bloomfield Street had been unlawfully entered sometime overnight, with 9 vehicles stolen from the premises.

Extensive damage was caused within the premises prior to the vehicles being stolen.

Alice Springs general duties, the Dog Operation Unit, Drone Operators and Strike Force Viper were all deployed.

Earlier this morning, two 12-year-old males were arrested in a stolen vehicle on Leichhardt Terrace and a 13-year-old male arrested in a stolen vehicle on Nicker Crescent. All three will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Two females, aged 19 and 17, were arrested by the Dog Operation Unit after being observed fleeing from a stolen vehicle on Milner Road. Both are expected to be charged later today.

A third vehicle was recovered abandoned near Tom Brown roundabout and two vehicles were recovered abandoned on Ashwin Street.

Another vehicle was located abandoned this afternoon by Police Aboriginal Liaison Officers in Eastside.

Investigations remain ongoing, with three vehicles outstanding.

Superintendent Megan Blackwell said, "This has been an incredibly disheartening morning for the local organisation involved in this unlawful entry.

"Significant resourcing was deployed in order to locate and apprehend these stolen vehicles before the community was put at further risk.

"Strike Force Viper investigators are currently working tirelessly to locate the remaining three vehicles and to identify any outstanding offenders.
