Police make arrests - Stolen vehicle in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested three males following the unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Alice Springs overnight.

A white Holden Rodeo utility was reported stolen to police yesterday by the owner. The vehicle was allegedly stolen while the driver was inside a business premises on Cameron Street.

Later that evening, the vehicle was located and pursued by police. Utilising tyre deflation devices, police were able to stop the vehicle on Bradshaw Terrace.

The four occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and were pursued by police. Police Patrol Dog Quake was deployed and three males were located nearby and arrested.

Two of the offenders arrested were male youths, aged 15 and 16, who will be subject to the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the third male, aged 20.

Police have seized the stolen vehicle for forensic examination. Strike Force Viper members continue to investigate the matter.

Commander Craig Laidler said, "It was a coordinated approach by police in locating and arresting the offenders. I commend the officers involved for their quick response."

"Police are calling for witnesses and anyone who may have seen this vehicle driving around the area between 11am and 9pm, are asked to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 9667264".
