Police nab man wanted over string of offences - Western Sydney

A man will face court today charged over a number of offences in Western Sydney and the robbery of a Bowral store last week.

About 3am on Friday 15 November 2019, a Holden Cruz was allegedly stolen from the garage of a home on Bradshaw Place, Prairiewood.

Police will allege, a man entered a jewellery store on Bong Bong Street, Bowral, about 2pm the same day, and threatened staff and a customer with a pistol, demanding money and jewellery.

Following an altercation with the store owner, the man smashed a glass display cabinet before fleeing with a number of watches. He was seen to get into the stolen Holden Cruz parked in a nearby carpark and drive off.

The Holden Cruze was later recovered on Chamberlain Street, Smithfield on Monday 18 November 2019. The vehicle was seized by police for forensic examination.

On Sunday 17 November 2019, a Hyundai Elantra was allegedly stolen from a home on Anderson Street in Mount Pritchard, following an aggravated break and enter.

About 11.45am on Thursday 21 November 2019, the stolen Hyundai Elantra was seen parked on Charles Street, Smithfield. As officers approached, the driver sped off, colliding with a number of police vehicles.

A pursuit was initiated through Wetherill Park before being terminated in Fairfield due to safety concerns.

Following extensive inquiries, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command and investigators from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with the assistance of specialist police, arrested a 29-year-old man at a home on Reservoir Road, Mount Pritchard, yesterday (Friday 22 November 2019).

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with the following offences:

• Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there

• Steal motor vehicle

• Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (x2)

• Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously

• Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc

• Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

Two outstanding warrants were also executed, and the man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 23 November 2019).
