A man remains in police custody after a police pursuit from Sydney's Eastern Beaches area to Upper North Shore overnight.
About 11pm yesterday (Sunday 10 August 2025), police were called to the intersection of Oberon Street and Arden Street, South Coogee, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were told a red hatchback and a black sedan have collided before the driver of hatchback left the scene without exchanging details.
A short time later, police located the hatchback on Canberra Street, Randwick, where a pursuit was initiated after the vehicle failed to stop as directed.
The pursuit continued across multiple suburbs including Randwick, Surry Hills, Sydney CBD, M1 Motorway and through Pacific Highway along the suburbs of North Shore area, as extra resources from multiple Commands assisted.
About 11.50pm on the same day, police arrested the driver – a 32-year-old man – on Pacific Highway, Turramurra, where the vehicle stopped.
He was subjected to a roadside drug test, which returned with an alleged positive reading.
He was taken to Hornsby Police Station where an oral fluid sample was obtained and sent for further analysis.
