Police officer retires after almost four decades of service - Oxley PD

Oxley Police District held a marching-off ceremony this week to honour the distinguished service of an officer who dedicated 37 years to the NSW Police Force.

In a fitting mark of respect, Senior Constable Kenneth Anderson OAM APM of Wee Waa Police Station, was given a traditional march-off on Monday (29 October 2019).

The retiring officer was paraded before colleagues and the District Commander, during which his 37 years of distinguished service and achievements were formally acknowledged, including the Order of Australia and Australian Police Medals in 2013, and his ANZAC of the Year award in 2003.

Snr Cst Anderson commenced his career with the NSW Police Force at the NSW Police Academy in August 1982.

He spent time at Cabramatta and the Liverpool District before transferring to Wee Waa in the Oxley Police District in November 1985.

Three decades later and Snr Cst Anderson signed off for the last time on Thursday 17 October 2019.

Oxley Police District Inspector Robert Dunn said Snr Cst Anderson has had a profound impact on the community.

"Being a police officer is not just about putting on a uniform, it is about being entrenched in the community," Insp Dunn said.

"I think you've provided the model of what all our police should be as far as our community goes.

"Your commitment to us as an organisation has been outstanding, 37 years is a marvellous effort.

"I sincerely thank you."
