Police officers injured assisting motorists in North Ryde

Two police officers have been injured while assisting motorists on a flooded road in Sydney’s north today, NSW Police say.

About 6.50am (Wednesday 28 November 2018), police were called to Pittwater Road near Blenheim Road, North Ryde, following reports of vehicles trapped on a flooded road.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command attended to assist and were clearing the road, when a tree fell on two of the officers and a vehicle.

A male Leading Senior Constable sustained minor injuries and a female Probationary Constable sustained serious injuries, including a suspected broken leg.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and has been taken to Royal North Shore hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The Leading Senior Constable is being assessed for a possible concussion.
