Police officers of Course 47 graduate today!, South Australia

Today marks a special day for South Australia Police (SAPOL) recruits of Course 47 who will graduate today at 1pm at the South Australia Police Academy.

The 22 members of Course 47 who are aged between 19 and 34 years, will be deployed to deliver frontline police services in a range of locations across the state.

One of the graduates is Tyla; who previous to applying with SAPOL, worked and volunteered as a lead animal attendant at Beau Pet Hotel.

Tyla, a keen horse rider, grew up in London and moved to South Australia in 2007 with her parents and twin sister. On reflection, Tyla found the training at the Police Academy challenging but has made some lifelong friends.

After graduation, Tyla will be posted to the Norwood Police Station where she hopes to gain experience on patrols before eventually seeking to become part of the SAPOL's Major Crash Investigation Unit.

Another graduate is Kelly-Rae who prior to applying for SAPOL worked in retail and pharmacy. Both of her parents have served with SAPOL. Her mum joined in 1986 and still remains a serving member.

Kelly-Rae was motivated to apply with SAPOL because of the different and varying career pathways that are on offer throughout the organisation.

Kelly-Rae is looking forward to putting all of her training into practice when she is posted to the Golden Grove Police Station. She hopes to gain as much experience as possible and one day become an operational member of the Mounted Operations Unit.

SAPOL are always recruiting and offer more than 40 career options, including working as a Police Officer or Community Constable. SAPOL is also currently recruiting for 114 Protective Security Officers (PSO) to assist with COVID-19 duties including in medi-hotels. If you are after a career change, you can become a PSO after just nine weeks of paid training.

What is exciting are the many career opportunities available in SAPOL.
