Police operation targets Bandidos clubhouse in East Devonport, TAS

 

Tasmania Police with the assistance of Australian Federal Police specialists has this morning conducted a stolen property related search warrant at the Bandidos clubhouse in East Devonport, Tasmania Police say.

Detective Inspector Kim Steven said that the David St clubhouse was highly fortified and members of the Special Operations Group was used to effect entry at 5.30am today.

"Police located stolen property, as well as drug paraphernalia and firearm ammunition during the search," Detective Inspector Steven said.

Inquiries are continuing in relation to these matters.

Detective Inspector Steven said that Tasmania Police was committed to disrupting the activities of criminal organisations.

"We will do what is necessary to hold these criminals to account and will continue to closely monitor their activities and movements," he said.

"These groups are not welcome here.  In recent years, members and associates of these groups have been charged with significant offences including drug trafficking and firearms crimes.

"The OMCG members are on notice in our jurisdiction.  We will not tolerate criminal activity, anti-social or intimidating behaviour, or breaches of our traffic laws."
