About 6am today (Friday 24 March 2023), emergency services were called to Princes Highway, North of Cobargo, following reports of a heavy vehicle crash.

Police have been told the driver of the mobile crane swerved to avoid hitting a kangaroo, before the vehicle struck a guard rail and tipped on its side, trapping the driver who remains trapped.

A contra-flow has been set up on the highway, with light vehicles encouraged to travel via Wallaga Lake Road and Cobargo-Bermagui Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and visit www.livetraffic.com before travelling.
