Police Probe After 5 Vehicles Damaged on Central Coast

An investigation is underway after five police vehicles were damaged by projectiles thrown from riders on illegal E-Bikes and dirt bikes on the Central Coast.

About 1.10pm today (Sunday 25 January 2026), officers attached to Brisbane Water Traffic and Highway Patrol were travelling on north along Ocean View Drive, Wamberal, when approximately 20 e-bikes and dirt bikes approached in the opposite direction.

As the riders passed, a rider threw a projectile at the police vehicle, hitting and significantly damaging the front windscreen.

The riders continued onto Terrigal Drive, at Terrigal, where further projectiles were thrown at and damaged four other police vehicles.

A rock thrown by a rider entered the window and hit a police officer, injuring his arm. The rock was seized for forensic examination.

An investigation into the incident has commenced.
