Police probe assault in Tamworth

Police are investigating after receiving reports a teenager was assaulted at Tamworth last month, NSW Police say.

Just after 8.30am, Thursday 18 August 2016, a 15-year-old youth was walking through a park near the intersection of Goonoo Goonoo Road and Locks Lane.

Police have been informed the teen was approached by a male who demanded before punching him to the head causing him to fall to the ground.

The man ran from the scene and the teen informed police of the incident.

Police would like to speak to a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, 18-20 old, about 183cm tall with a thin build. He has long dark messy hair, a nose piercing, a bar piercing in his left ear and studs in the other. He was wearing a white singlet, brown jacket, black jeans and black boots.

The boy was not injured as a result of the assault.

Investigations are continuing.
