Police probe building fire in Parramatta

Police are investigating after a building fire in Sydney’s west overnight, NSW Police say.

Just before 8.30pm today, emergency services were called to the intersection of Victoria Road and Church Street, Parramatta, where they found a building well alight.

The commercial building is vacant and no-one was inside at the time.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze which had engulfed the second storey.

Officers from Parramatta Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The property sustained extensive damage and the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Inquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire.

Partial road closures remain in place and motorists should avoid the area where possible.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
