Police probe car into tree in North Willoughby

Police are investigating a crash at North Willoughby this morning, NSW Police say.

About 2.30am tomorrow, police and emergency services were called to Penshurst Street following reports of a car crash.

On arrival, officers found a silver Audi crashed into a tree. A parked car was also damaged.

The driver of the Audi – a man in his 20s – was trapped for a short time before he was released by Fire & Rescue NSW crews.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for a leg injury, before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment and mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police from North Shore Local Area Command established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Penshurst Street was closed for a short time but has since been re-opened after the Audi was removed.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
