Police probe fatal crash in Deniliquin

Police are investigating following a fatal crash near Deniliquin this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 3.15pm today, emergency services were called to the Cobb Highway, about 6km south of Deniliquin, following reports of a crash.

Police have been told a road train and a tractor were travelling north on the Cobb Highway when they collided.

The driver of the tractor, a 55-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, but died at the scene.

The male driver of the heavy vehicle was not injured. He was taken to Deniliquin Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The Cobb Highway is expected to be closed for a number of hours while specialist forensic officers examine the scene.
