Police probe following collision in Shoalhaven

Inquiries are continuing following a crash between a motorcycle and a car in Shoalhaven overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly after midnight tomorrow, police believe that an unregistered mini motor cross motorcycle was travelling along Walmer Street when it turned into Frederick Street at Sanctuary Point.

A 40-year-old man driving a Ford Fiesta was travelling behind the motorcycle when it attempted to make a left turn onto a waterfront walking track.

As the 16-year-old male rider attempted to make the turn he was struck by the car and dragged under the vehicle.

The driver attempted to lift the car off the teenager but when he was unable to emergency services were contacted.

Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended along with Ambulance Paramedics and Fire & Rescue NSW officers.

The teenager was eventually released from under the car and conveyed to Shoalhaven Hospital with a possible broken ankle, burns and grazes.

The 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station while both vehicles were seized for further mechanical examination.

At this time the man has been released pending further inquiries while police attempt to determine if the crash is linked to an earlier incident.
