Police probe grass fire in Pemulwuy

Police are investigating a grass fire which occurred in Sydney’s west overnight as a result of the use of fire crackers, NSW Police say.

About 1am (Wednesday 20 December 2017), emergency services were called to a grassed hill between Butu Wargun Drive and Clunies Ross Street, Pemulwuy.

Firefighters from Fire & Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service along with police from Holroyd LAC attended. After two hours and 45 minutes the fire was extinguished. Fire damage was restricted to the grass on the hill.

Once extinguished, police located a number of firecrackers and a cigarette lighter at the scene. These items were seized and will be subject to forensic examination.
