Police Probe Overnight Fires in Ravenswood, Waverley

Police are investigating two separate fires at Ravenswood and Waverley overnight.

Police and emergency services were called to an address in Regent Street at Waverley shortly after 11.15pm after reports a carport was on fire.

Tasmania Fire Service quickly extinguished the fire and an investigation determined it was deliberately lit.

Police and emergency services were then called to a separate fire at an address in Iona Court, Ravenswood shortly before 2.30am.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and the property sustained significant damage.

An investigation has since determined it was deliberately lit.

Both incidents are being investigated by police, however at this stage there is no suggestion they are linked.
