Police pursuit ends in Hindley Street, SA

Just after 10pm on Monday 28 November, police received a report of an assault in Cumberland Park. A car was seen leaving the area driven by a man with a woman and two small children inside, according to SA Police.

The car was spotted in South Plympton at 10.10pm and monitored by Polair. The car was tracked to Port Adelaide and then spiked at the intersection of Grand Junction and South Road. It was then followed by STAR group patrols to Hampstead Road and then to the city via North East Road. In the city, the car travelled through city streets and along Rundle Mall, before STAR patrols stopped the car in Hindley Street at 11.45pm.

Reports were received that the driver was in possession of a handgun. Police will allege the driver threatened one of the children with the gun and was then shot by police. The man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
