A critical incident investigation has been declared following a pursuit in Sydney's southwest.
Just before 2.00pm today (Friday 31 July 2026), officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attempted to stop the rider of a motorcycle on Menangle Road, Menangle Park, in relation to a traffic offence.
When the motorcycle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, police found the motorcycle had crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Menangle Road and Spring Farm Parkway, Menangle Park.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male rider for serious injuries before he was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene has been established and a Critical Incident Team from Auburn Police Area Command will lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, assisted by the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
The investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
