Police 'remove' removalist in Windsor

Police have arrested a man who claims to be a removalist but allegedly refused to deliver furniture to customers until additional funds he demanded were paid, NSW Police say.

Police from Hawkesbury Police Area Command have been investigating claims that a removalist operating in their area would quote for work to move furniture and personal goods.

After winning the removalist job the man would collect the items of property however he would then allegedly demand additional funds before releasing the items back to the lawful owner.

Police have been investigating the activities of a 40-year-old man with complaints from several people who now reside interstate.

About 1.30pm today (Wednesday 7 February 2018), police observed a 40-year-old man and 32-year-old woman in a vehicle in Macquarie Street at Windsor.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the man. The officers also conducted a search of the vehicle and seized several items as part of their investigation.

The man was conveyed to Windsor Police Station where he was later charged with larceny as a bailee (x 3).

The man has been refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 8 March 2018).

Inquiries into the matter continue.
