Police are reappealing for information following the death of a man in the Illawarra in 2017.
Emergency services were called to the corner of Collins Street and Willow Grove, Corrimal about 9.45am on Sunday 5 February 2017, following reports a 57-year-old man's body was found in a creek, by a passerby.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District responded and established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident commenced.
Following fresh information in November 2024, Strike Force Bedworth was established to re-examine the circumstances leading up to the man's death.
The man can now be identified as Phillip Rudd.
Police have released CCTV of Mr Rudd leaving a licensed premises on Francis Street, Corrimal around 10:20pm on Friday 3 February 2017.
Police are appealing for anyone who was at the licensed premises on the night, in which the Anthony Mundine versus Danny Green fight number 2 was airing, to come forward with information.
Mr Rudd' sister Julie, said he was a quiet, even-tempered person who knew many people in the northern suburbs of Wollongong.
"Phil was a local character. He spent most of his life around Fairy Meadow, Woonona and Corrimal. He worked at BHP. He was well known and liked."
Julie said his loss shattered his family.
" It devastated my mum. It was an absolute shock to all of us, but mum took it really bad. It was a pretty big blow for his children, who were all adults at the time."
Julie is urging anyone with information to come forward.
"If you were in the club that night or if you heard anyone say anything… if you had a drink or were talking to him… any little detail could be helpful."
Mr Rudd was wearing jeans, a blue and white checked shirt tucked into his belt with joggers.
