A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the State's west this afternoon.
About 4.30pm today (Tuesday 3 February 2026), emergency services were called to South Valley Road, Ashford, about 30km north of Inverell, following reports a vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero) had left the road and crashed.
The passenger – a man believed to be in his 60s – was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified, and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
The driver – a 68 year-old man – was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries before being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Officers attached New England Police District established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the crash.
