Police responding to fatal motorcycle crash at Tamworth

A man has died, and another man has been injured, following a motorcycle crash in the state's west yesterday.

About 7pm on Saturday (29 January 2022), emergency services were called to a racetrack at Tamworth, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Police were told the motorcycle and sidecar collided heavily with a side wall of the racetrack.

The rider – a 66-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.

The passenger – a 27-year-old man – sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined.

An investigation is currently underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
