Police Responding To Fatal Traffic Crash At Kuranda 17 June

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash at Kuranda on Tuesday, 16 June.

Around 3pm, a silver Mitsubishi Pajero travelling east on the Kennedy Highway, towards Cairns, collided with the rear of a Fuso light truck which was stopped at roadworks.

The 67-year-old Forsayth man driving the Pajero was airlifted to Cairns Hospital with critical injuries and was later declared deceased.

The 72-year-old female Pajero passenger was transported to hospital as a precaution.

The 49-year-old male truck driver, from Cairns North, was not physically injured as a result of a crash.

Police believe other motorists may have witnessed the lead-up to the crash and are appealing to them, or anyone else with dashcam footage, to contact Policelink.
