Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Tanawha

A woman has died following a single vehicle traffic crash at Tanawha yesterday afternoon, Sunday February 27.

Around 4.30pm a passing motorist noticed the woman laying on the side of the road on the Bruce Highway Sunshine Coast Motorway offramp near the intersection of Frizzo Connection Road and Cunning Road, Tanawha.

The motorist rendered immediate first aid to the woman before flagging down a passing police vehicle. The officer assisted the man in conducting CPR on the woman and coordinated an emergency response.

Her vehicle, a white 1985 Ford Falcon Station Wagon was found in a nearby ditch, alongside a pet dog who survived the crash.

Despite the best efforts of the pair and responding paramedics, the 29-year-old Tamborine woman died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, which is not considered flood-related.

Police are appealing for witnesses, especially those who may have dashcam vision of the vehicle travelling on or near Frizzo Connection Road prior to and including the crash to come forward.
