Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Bellenden Ker

A man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash in Ballenden Ker near Babinda in the state’s Far North.

Preliminary information suggests the man was travelling south along the Bruce Highway near Bellenden Ker when the single cab utility he was driving left the road and struck a tree.

Police patrolling the area noticed the vehicle around 11.30am today and found the man deceased inside.

The Bruce Highway at Ballenden Kerr was closed for a short time during the emergency response but is now fully open.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
