Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Kuraby

Police have charged a driver with dangerous driving causing death following investigations into a crash this morning at Kuraby in which a female pedestrian died.

Preliminary information indicates a 72-year-old local woman was walking on the footpath on Beenleigh Road around 7.45am when a vehicle struck her. She was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver, a 48-year-old Sunnybank Hills woman, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving while under the influence of liquor (UIL), fail to provide a specimen of breath for analysis or blood for test on requirement, fail to provide specimen of breath or saliva for road-side on requirement.

She has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 14).
