Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Atherton 4 February

A 91-year-old woman has died following a single-vehicle traffic crash on the Kennedy Highway, south of Atherton, this afternoon (February 4).

Initial investigations indicate around 2:30pm, a Landrover Minibus was travelling northbound along the highway before it rolled.

A 91-year-old Yorkeys Knob woman, the single passenger of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

A 89-year-old Yorkeys Knob man, the driver of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Atherton Hospital before being airlifted to Cairns Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash and appeal to anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
