Police are investigating a crash that sadly claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy overnight, near Yeppoon.

Initial investigations indicate the silver Ford Falcon sedan was travelling south on Appleton Drive near the Fig Tree Creek Bridge shortly after midnight, before it left the road and rolled.

The 16-year-old Taranganba boy was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two other occupants, the 18-year-old male driver and 16-year-old female passenger, were treated for minor injuries and later transported to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for observations.
