Police are investigating a serious two vehicle traffic crash at Surfers Paradise this morning, 13 April.
Initial investigations indicate that around 4.20am, a sedan was travelling south along Ferny Avenue when it collided with a truck at the intersection of Beach Road.
The impact caused the truck to flip onto its side.
The female driver of the sedan sustained significant head injuries.
She was entrapped in the sedan for a period of time before being extricated and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
The male truck driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
All northbound lanes, as well as turning lanes in all directions, are currently blocked. Southbound access is down to one lane.
Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The intersection is expected to be affected for the next few hours while the Forensic Crash Unit investigates.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or may have vision to assist the investigation is asked to come forward.
