Police responding to serious traffic crash at Douglas (Townsville)

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries on Townsville's outskirts tonight.

Initial information suggests shortly before 7pm a motorcyclist was travelling northbound on the Ring Road at Douglas when a vehicle is believed to have changed lanes causing the rider to take evasive action.

As a result, the rider has lost control and was thrown from the bike.

He was located by passing motorists unconscious on the road and taken to the Townsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and spoke with police.

Investigations are continuing.
