Police Responding To Traffic Crash At Garbutt

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash in Garbutt last night, 14 July.

Initial information indicates around 6.10pm, a silver Toyota Hilux collided with a white Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection of Chandler Street and Douglas Street.

The Hilux was stolen from a Bohle Plains property on July 10.

The Outlander rolled and landed on its side, and the Hilux crashed into a nearby fence.

The occupants of the Hilux left the scene on foot.

A 21-year-old Bushland Beach woman, a passenger in the Hilux was taken to Townsville University Hospital.

She was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

She was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today, July 15.

Several occupants of the Outlander were taken to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam vision of the moments prior to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
