Police search for missing bushwalkers at Mareeba

Far North District police, along with members of the State Emergency Service, will resume searching this morning for two women believed to be lost in bushland near Mareeba.

Police were alerted around 6.30pm last night after a group of three walkers separated near Davies Creek Road and Kennedy Highway.

A 21-year-old man, who was with the two women and returned to collect a vehicle as poor weather set in, was located around 7pm after alerting police.

Officers searched nearby bushland on foot until midnight however they were unable to locate the two 21-year-old women.

The search will recommence this morning and will focus primarily in and around the Lambs Head walking trail.
