Police seek info after aggravated break & enter in Griffith

Police are appealing for information from the community after an aggravated break & enter at Griffith overnight where a man was assaulted, NSW Police say.

About 10pm on Monday 29 January 2018, a 52-year-old man was asleep on a lounge at his home in Kookora Street.

Answering a knock at the front door the man walked onto the balcony where he was confronted by a man who demanded money and started to assault him.

The man was punched several times in the head by the offender and tried to escape inside the house.

The assault continued inside the premises with the man eventually collapsing with a head injury.

The man’s wife came from a bedroom to see what was happening and located her husband on the ground and the offender in the kitchen.

The offender fled from the home through the front door and was seen to leave the area with another male.

Emergency services were contacted with Ambulance paramedics treating the injured man.

Officers attached to Griffith Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The assailant has been described to police only as being of Aboriginal appearance.

Police have urged anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
