Police Seek Info on Two-Vehicle Crash Near Wagga Wagga

Police are appealing for information following a serious two-vehicle crash on the Sturt Highway, in the state's Riverina.

About 9.40am today ( Friday 22 May 2026), police were called to the Sturt Highway, Alfredton, about 17km east of Wagga Wagga, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

NSW Ambulance treated a 49-year-old male driver for head injuries and possible internal injuries and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

The 40-year-old male driver of the other car, was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District responded and established a crime scene, and commenced inquiries, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The Sturt Highway is closed in both directions, near Wokolena Road. Motorists are urged to use Tumbarumba Rd and Hume Hwy in both directions. Traffic updates are available via www.livetraffic.com

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information to call Wagga Wagga Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
