Police seek information after ATM stolen in ram raid at Lake Macquarie

Police are appealing for public assistance after an ATM was stolen in a ram raid in the state's north this morning.

About 1.40am today (Sunday 5 September 2021), officers from Lake Macquarie Police District were called to a shopping centre in Cameron Park, Lake Macquarie, after reports of a break and enter.

Police have been told a man drove a forklift through the glass door of the shopping centre, before using it to steal an atm and drive away.

Following inquiries, officers located the remnants of an ATM at a nearby construction site and the forklift was found in nearby bushland.

Two crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic police.

As an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues, police are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward.
