Police are appealing for information after a woman was injured during a carjacking in the state's Central West this week.
About 9pm on Wednesday (11 November 2020), a 55-year-old woman was driving a Holden Rodeo utility towards a low level bridge under the Mid Western Highway, Cowra, when she stopped to give way to a vehicle.
Police have been told an unknown man entered her vehicle when it was stopped and demanded the woman to drive for about 12km on the Lachlan Valley Way.
During the incident, the woman was stabbed in her thigh, before the man told her to pull over.
The man exited the vehicle and was seen entering a dark coloured vehicle travelling north on Lachlan Valley Way. The vehicle conducted a U-turn and was last seen travelling south along the highway.
The woman was assisted by another motorist and taken to Cowra Hospital for treatment to lacerations.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended and established a crime scene.
As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with scruffy shoulder length hair. He was last seen wearing a light-coloured T-shirt and long dark pants.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, including dashcam vision or CCTV vision from the area at the time, to come forward.
