Police seek information on large disturbance, affray, New Year's Day, West Endin Brisbane

South Brisbane detectives investigating a brawl in the early hours of New Year's Day that left two men hospitalised are appealing for public assistance to identify those involved.

Just after 1am on January 1, police were called to Boundary Street, West End following report of a fight involving a large number of men and women.

Police located two men, aged 22 and 28, with serious injuries which required hospitalisation.

The 22-year-old man sustained severe facial injuries from being hit and kicked, including a head injury, a broken nose and facial fractures.

The 28-year-old man sustained three non-life-threatening stab wounds to his legs.

Several other people also sustained a variety of less serious injuries.

Police have released CCTV and still images of people who may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Those involved are described as of African descent and aged in their late teens and early 20s.
