Police seek information on Structure fire in Katherine 19 January

Northern Territory Police are calling for information regarding a suspicious house fire in Katherine South earlier this week.

At 8:40am on Tuesday, Northern Territory Police and Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to reports of a residence on fire on Riverbank Drive.

The residence was unoccupied at the time and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, however the building suffered extensive damage. Police believe the building was unlawfully entered prior to the fire.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Byron May said "A crime scene was established and with the assistance of Fire Investigators, Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch detectives continue to investigate the matter.

"Police are urging anyone who may have CCTV footage of suspicious behaviour in the vicinity at that time, or has any knowledge of the circumstances, to contact police on 131 444. You can also report anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference 10234963."
