Police seek information over bag connected to supermarket armed robbery - Kiama Downs

Detectives have released an image of a bag, believed to be connected to an armed robbery at a supermarket on the state's south coast, in an appeal for public assistance.

About 6.15pm on Sunday 12 August 2108, a man – armed with an axe – entered a supermarket on Johnson Street, Kiama Downs.

The armed man threatened a 14-year-old female employee before stealing cash and fleeing the store in a stolen white van.

Local police attended and established a crime scene before the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Tudawalli.

The van was later found abandoned nearby and was seized for forensic examination.

About 10am on Sunday 16 June 2019, a bag was located outside a hotel in Meroo Street, Bomaderry, before it was handed in to local police.

A forensic examination of the bag linked it to the stolen vehicle used in the armed robbery.

As part of ongoing investigations, strike force investigators have released an image of the bag and are appealing for anyone who has information about it to come forward.

Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to the person who left the bag in Bomaderry.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information about that may assist Strike Force Tudawalli is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
