Police Seek Leads: Elderly Man Critical in Blackbutt Crash

Lake Illawarra Police are appealing for information after an elderly pedestrian was critically injured in a crash in the state's south yesterday evening.

About 6.50pm (Wednesday 10 December 2025), emergency services were called to Pioneer Drive, Blackbutt, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District attended and found that an elderly man had been hit by a Nissan utility while crossing a driveway.

The man – aged 86 – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the utility – a 17-year-old boy – was uninjured and taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
