Police Seek Leads in Auburn Robbery

Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate a robbery at a railway station in Sydney's west.

About 5:20pm on Saturday, 7 March 2026, officers from the Police Transport Command responded to Auburn Railway Station following reports that a man had stolen a mobile phone from a teenage boy.

Police were told an 18-year-old man, and a 16-year-old boy had entered Auburn Railway Station when an unknown man approached them and demanded the boy's mobile phone

When they declined, the man became aggressive and stole the phone from the boy before leaving the scene.

There were no reports of injuries.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

As inquiries continue, police have released an image of a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with black long braided ponytail hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black pants, and white Asics shoes.
